This 110-ton steel sculpture that has been dubbed by residents as “The Bean”. You can find this $23 million sculpture at the Millennium Park, in Chicago. It was sculptured by the world-renowned artist Anish Kapoor. The Cloud Gate, installed at the AT&T Plaza, is a highly-polished reflective steel sculpture.
“The curved, mirror-like surface of the sculpture provides striking reflections of visitors, the city, and the sky; since its installation, it has probably become the most popular sculpture in the city.”
It is made of 168 highly polished stainless steel plates, and stands at 33 feet high, 66 feet long, and 42 feet wide, weighing 110 tons. If you see it from a distance, it looks like a huge drop of liquid mercury. I really like it, the bean is such a cool thing to see in person.

My attention was lately attracted by this rotated boat lift. The Falkirk Wheel, named after the nearby town of Falkirk in central Scotland, is a rotating boat liftForth. The Wheel is the world’s largest boat lift. It transfers canal boats from one canal to another 100 feet higher. This spectacular centrepiece of the £84.5 million, Millennium Link, is the UK’s largest canal restoration project, developed by British Waterways to reconnect the Union Canal with the Forth & Clyde Canal, re-establishing east to west coast access for boats. The structure is located near the Rough Castle Fort and the closest village is Tamfourhill.
Apart from being an engineering and design wonder, The Falkirk Wheel is a great day out. From the stunning Visitor Centre and basin, set at the heart of a natural amphitheatre of landscaped grounds, you can view the revolution of The Wheel or go for a stroll to see it from all angles.
I have included a video from YouTube. Check it out!

I was reading an article about the history of the Forbes magazine. I discovered that the ex-president of the magazine, Malcolm Forbes, had the most extensive collection of toy soldiers. He started his collection in the late 60s and amassed a collection of over 90,000 figures by the time of his death in 1990.
A toy soldier is a miniature figurine that represents a soldier. It have appeared in many cultures and eras. Tin soldiers were produced in Germany as early as the 1730s, by molding the metal between two pieces of slate. Those miniature figures of soldiers are extremely popular in the world of collecting.
I have selected some pictures below, to show you how you can cast your own Tin Soldier. It’s definitely something I will like to have in my home wall! Maybe not the Nazi soldiers board, but something similar.
