Crazy Road Signs

The road signs have been present in our life. It’s almost the only thing that I’m required or forced to follow. The disregard of following signs may constitute a violation of the law. The first road signs were the milestone, used by the Romans. They erected stone columns throughout their empire, which is giving them the distance to Rome. That’s why we used to say, “Every road leads to Rome”. Today the road signs is used to instruct us on what we must or should do under a given set of circumstances. What happens when a road sign makes you think, if there is something wrong.

The Mandarin Duck: Symbol of Wedded Bliss & Fidelity

I discovered today a new kind of ducks that I didn’t know before, the mandarin duck. If we compare to our North American Wood Duck. The mandarin duck is way more colorful, his breast is purple with two vertical white bars, and the flanks ruddy, with two orange “sails” at the back. In China, the mandarin duck is associated as a Chinese weddings symbol, because it symbolize wedded bliss and fidelity. But in reality, though, the ducks find new partners each year. A Chinese proverb for loving couples uses the Mandarin Duck as a metaphor: “Two mandarin ducks playing in water”.

In Japan, fish are being used in spa treatments. I’m not pulling your leg, although these fishes might. The customer soaks in water stocked with fishes that nibble on their skin, removing dead cells and reportedly clearing up skin conditions.

Movie Trailer: The Last Legion

It seems like everything is working against this well-cast adaptation of Valerio Manfredi’s novel: the fact that the historial epic genre is all but dead, thanks to Kingdom of Heaven and Tristan + Isolde; an initial release set for January of this year, only to be released in August, a.k.a. the other month during which studios dump their supposed flops. Now that the title has been changed from The Enchanted Sword, here are suggestions for this adaptation of Valerio Manfredi’s novel: (1) endless close-ups of Aishwarya Rai; (2) brutally hot legionaries.
