Merry Christmas Everyone! It’s been a busy and fun year in the world of Blogging for me. I have learned a lot with the help of some Gurus in this Blogging World such as John Chow, Problogger, Shoemoney and many more! My goal for this year was to have a working blog, I guess I did it! I have setup below a nice Christmas tree of my favorite blogs for this year, I hope you like it! Have a great Christmas and I will have some new amazing and crazy articles in the New Year. I don’t know yet what it will be but for sure it will ROCK YOUR WORLD. As the drunk Santa say it well, “OH OH OHYEAH!“.

Maman: The Giant Spider

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

Look, there’s a giant spider! Run! Just kidding! This gigantic sculpture of the spider named “Maman” is 30 feet in height and width, with a sac containing 26 marble eggs. It’s one of Louise Bourgeois, the creator, famous sculptures. There’s one stainless steel version which is currently being lend to the Tate Modern in London. There are another six bronze casts located at National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa, State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Mori Art Museum in Tokyo, Samsung Museum of Modern Art in Seoul and Havana in Cuba. What a fine piece of contemporary sculpture that I would like to put in front of my house, if only I can afford it.

Campbell’s Soup: Hunger

Wednesday, December 19th, 2007

In a grocery store 4,820 cans of Campbell’s Soup were used to build an installation piece that spelled Hunger. The signage beside the piece encouraged shoppers to buy one and donate it to their local food bank. As shoppers brought cans from this display the word HUNGER slowly disappeared. This allowed people to see how their individual effort could help bring an end to the problem of hunger. I have hear last month on T.V that some schools in Canada don’t have exam at the end of the month because the students are hunger. They suffer from hunger because they don’t get enough food at home. This is a serious issue because not getting enough food over the long term can lead to malnutrition. I like the idea behind it, simple and clear. Nice idea for a GREAT CAUSE!

Kunsthaus Graz: Friendly Alien

Monday, December 17th, 2007

This gigantic building called the “Friendly Alien” was built in 2003 for the European Capital of Culture Celebrations. It’s also an architectural landmark in Graz, Austria. Kunsthaus Graz is a museum for contemporary art. It’s made of 5000 square meters of steel, foam glasses and acrylics with an arbitrarily curved surface. Its unusual form differs radically from conventional exhibition contexts, many of which maintain the traditions of the modernist “White Cube”.

The BIX Facade is a permanent light and media installation for the museum. A matrix of 930 fluorescent lamps integrated into the acrylic glass facade of the biomorophic building at the east side. Brilliantly designed, the lamps’ brightness can be adjusted at an infinite variability at 20 frames per second images with films and animations being displayed. Just amazing!
