SEO: What Is SEO And How Does It Work?

Written on January 29, 2008 by KiwiPulse · Posted in Various · 10 Comments

First you need to know that this post is the introduction to the many SEO tutorials that I will publish. I decided to write about this topic because I recently received many emails from my fellow bloggers requesting to help them with their SEO. I was quite surprised that some of them don’t know what SEO stands for. In mastering any subjects, one can’t escape from taking the introductory course, in this case it’s SEO 101. In this first tutorial, I will cover the basics of SEO.

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It helps to increase the rank of your blog and gain popularity from the search engines such as Google and Yahoo. You probably use Google for researching or finding answers to many of your questions. There are billions of pages/articles/websites indexed on Google. If you don’t optimize your blog to be viewed on the search engines, your articles will probably be the last ranked of the millions/billions of articles in the results list.

Have you seen the new logo from Google’s Homepage? Google have updated their logo in celebrating the 50th anniversary of the popular plastic brick, the Lego Brick. The popular toy started his journey in 1932 in the workshop of his creator, Ole Kirk Christiansen. Kirk began creating wooden toys then his company had expanded to producing plastic toys in 1947, but not yet with the brick design. It was only until 1958 that the modern-day brick design was developed and it took another five years to find exactly the right material for it. The Lego brick was patented on January 28, 1958 and the bricks from that year are still compatible with the bricks today!

LEGO Bricks have released over 100 new items for this celebration. I have selected my favorite items below. You can see more at Lego.com.

Happy 50th Birthday LEGO Brick!

Written on January 25, 2008 by KiwiPulse · Posted in Art, Sculpture · 45 Comments

You probably know this long and thin wood cylinder object that we use as writing or drawing instrument which we called the pencil. Surprisingly, pencils can be used to create colorful sculptures taking various forms. Today, I fall in love with an artist’s work of unique and exquisite unusual fine art made with pencils. Her name is Jennifer Maestre and she uses pencils as the medium to create her sculptures. Jennifer has always been involved in some kind of creative projects in her life. In her early 30’s, she went to Mass College of Art where she majored in Glass Art. As her career progresses, Jennifer invented the art of pencil sculptures. They don’t teach such type of art in school!
