Juice Salon: Hairstyle Escalator
Written on February 28, 2008 by KiwiPulse · Posted in Advertising · 3 Comments
This is what I call a new source of media space to boost up advertising! Juice Salon found a way to advertise their salon by showing a man’s head with different hairstyles using the escalator. At first, looking at the pictures and seeing how each picture form a new hairdo I thought the idea was brilliant. This will surely generate traffic at an unexpected and unusual place, where all eyes will be focusing at the moving escalator. But if you watch the video and seeing how each hairdo picture form a new style on the guy’s face, you will get a little disappointed. In fact you will only see each hairdo with the face in half of a second. The escalator is running too fast that it can get a bit annoying. Maybe they should make the prints bigger or reduce the speed of the escalator!
“To advertise the wide variety of hairstyling options available at Juice Salon, a picture of a man up to his forehead was pasted on the base of the escalator and a different hairstyle on each of its steps. As each step of the escalator moved down, it resulted in showcasing of a different hairstyle.“

Santo Domingo: Parque Biblioteca Espana

If you ever get a chance to visit Santo Domingo in Columbia you must visit their famous library park, Parque Biblioteca Espana. Constructed in 2007 by Giancarlo Mazzanti, these rock-like buildings are a true piece of art. These buildings serve as an iconic symbol for the city and enhance urban development and public activities in the area. This so call hulking opal structure houses a library, an auditorium, computer rooms, a day care center and an art gallery. The buildings also serve as a public plaza and lookout towards the city. The facade of the building is made of slabs of black slate with 30% oxide. The main goal for the construction project was to create an educational environments and at the same time emphasizes on the uniqueness and creativeness of architectural design.
I think I’m in love with these buildings! By the way, if you want to know how to get there. It’s high up on the hillside and the only way to get there is by the city’s metro system, the cable car line. It could be a fascinating place to visit!

Movie: Semi-Pro 2008

It looks like Will Ferrell is coming back to the big screen with this comedy about basketball in the early 1980s. Ferrell play Jackie Moon, the owner-coach-player of the American Basketball’s Association’s Flint Michigan Tropics and he will do just everything to make his NBA dreams a reality. In order to achieve his dream of owning a basketball team, he will use his one-hit wonder chart-topping song “Love Me Sexy”. The only way for the team to survive is to do the seemingly impossible..WIN! An another movie from Will Ferrell that I will definately not miss! The Semi-Pro movie will be released to theaters on February 29 2008. For your enjoyment, I have added below the official movie trailer and the Old Spice and Bud Light commercial videos created by Jackie Moon. Funky!

ESOM Music Store: Lose The CDs
Written on February 24, 2008 by KiwiPulse · Posted in Advertising · 6 Comments
I found these ads very brilliant! Since I have brought my Ipod two years ago, I never went back to buying any music CDs again. With all the music softwares out there like Itunes, I can download only the songs that I like rather than spending my money on an album where I will only listen to one or two songs. Not money worth spent, if you think about it! I guess for many people, the CD Drive is only useful for installing games and softwares. As I can see my CD drive, like my old floppy disk drive ( I know… my computer is very old!), is not home to music CDs anymore. ESOM the online music store have found a very creative way to execute the message that music CDs are long gone. Burn Baby Burn!

Dexter: Nothing Stops A SerialKiller
Written on February 23, 2008 by KiwiPulse · Posted in Advertising · 3 Comments
One of the television drama series that I watched last year was Dexter’s Laboratory. This TV show is based on the novel entitled “Darkly Dreaming Dexter” by Jeff Lindsay and adapted for television by screenwriter James Manos, Jr. The series is about Dexter Morgan who is a serial killer by night and a blood pattern analyst by day. If you didn’t get a chance to watch Dexter Season 1 (October 2006) and Dexter Season 2 (December 2007) , you can purchase the DVD. The good thing about it is there’s no commercials! The Season 3 showtime is confirmed and will start airing on September 30 2008, 9 PM ET/PT.
These ads have been bought by Nelonen (Channel Four Finland), which was founded in 1997. The television channel is funded exclusively by advertising. Their program show many TV hit series such as Lost, Desperate Housewives, The Sopranos, The Block, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and lately Dexter’s Laboratory! I hope the Finnish people are prepared for this scary thriller.
