Alexa: KiwiPulse Reached The Rank Of 100,000

I am proud to announce that Kiwipulse has reached one of its 10 goals early this week. The objective was to reach the mark of the top 100,000 on Alexa Rank. Surprisingly, Kiwipulse did extremely well by passing the 100,000 mark with 92,418 in traffic rank this week! For your information Alexa is well known for its free powerful tool used to rank websites traffic. It is a subsidiary company of Amazon.com which was acquired in 1999 for about $250 million (in Amazon stocks that is).

The way Alexa works is really simple. It is based on the visits from the Alexa Toolbar users in which the toolbar is integrated with Internet Explorer, Mozilla and Netscape. In other words Alexa will analyze the web usage of millions of Alexa Toolbar users and then the information is sorted, sifted, anonymized, counted, and computed. Finally they will release the new ranking of each website via their Alexa service. The traffic rank is based on three months of aggregated historical traffic data from millions of Alexa Toolbar users and is a combined measure of page views and users.

Traffic rankings of 100,000+ is regarded as not reliable. Kiwipulse want to stay away from the ‘not reliable’ status, thus has worked effortlessly to reach the 100, 000 mark. Mission accomplished! The closer a website gets to #1, the more reliable its rank.

On a monthly basis Kiwipulse received on average over 30,000 of unique visitors and the numbers just keep increasing. But from time to time, the popular posts would increase the number of unique visitors to 15,000 on a daily basis. The main traffic driver for the popular posts was from StumbleUpon. Thanks to all who have stumbled Kiwipulse’s posts. If you have experienced the traffic from StumbleUpon you know that it’s a crazy way to increase the traffic for your blog.

Kiwipulse would like to thank all of you who have been following the website since the beginning. Without your support and participation, whether that’s by commenting, providing tips and feedback, or donating, Kiwipulse would probably not be here blogging the things that ROCK YOUR WORLD (mine as well…).

Luciano Carvari: Flora Amore

Yes once again, theses ads prove that using sex as a medium for adverting is very attractive. Luciano Carvari is a network of branded footwear and accessories stores in the Ukrainian market. Their ad campaign below showcase the new Flora Amore collection of footwear for the 2008 Spring-Summer Season. These highly fashionable footwear will surely rock the ladies’ world…but I am not sure if that’s the case for the gentlemen. In deed, very nicely executed!

Movie: 10,000 B.C. Discover The Dark Ages

10,000 B.C will be one of the most promising movies in theaters this week. From the director that brings us Independence Day and The Day After Tomorrow, Roland Emmerich is once again using special effects to bring us back to discover the Dark Ages.

The movie is about a young hunter, D’Leh (played by Steven Strait) who is passionately in love with the beautiful Evolet (Camilla Belle). But one day, a band of mysterious warlords raid his village and kidnap his beloved Evolet. D’Led and his young inexperienced warriors must journey to the unkown dark lands to recuse Evolet. Driven by destiny, the unlikely warriors must battle prehistoric predators while braving the harshest elements; they come face-to-face with saber-toothed cats, woolly mammoths, phorusrhacids and ground sloths. Their ultimate fate at the end of the journey was to discover a lost civilization where great pyramids reach into the skies. Here at this astonishing empire they will join force to fight against the evil god who has brutally enslaved their people. It is also here that D’Leh realize that it was his destiny to save all of civilization.

Be sure to catch the movie which will be released to theaters tomorrow, March 07 2008. This movie “invites you to the journey back to a time of darkness to discover life, death, love, hate, good, evil, hope, betrayal, triumph, lost, power, fear and rage from the beginning of time.”

Carlsberg: Probably The Best Beer In The World

Carlberg is originally from Denmark where they popularized their famous Elephant beer on November 9th, 1959. This large brewing company founded by J.C Jacobsen in 1847 have became the 5th largest brewery group after merging with the Norwegian brewery group, Orkla ASA, in January 2001.

They are proud to announce that their beer, probably the best beer in the world, will now come in a new bottle. This designer beer has a chestnut brown color, little foam and hints of prune, caramel, vanilla and oak tree. To celebrate the release, they exposed in a large billboard 500 of those new bottles to form the Carlsberg logo. To complete the look, their famous tagline created in 1973 by Saatchi and Saatchi was added; “Probably the best beer in the world”.

From what I know they also sell the most expensive beer in the world. The limited edition Vintage No. 1 beer which was unveiled in early 2008 is selling for $400 US each. Brewmaster Jens Eiken says that “We believe that there are people out there who are willing to part with this amount of money just so that they can taste an amazing beer or to keep it on their mantelpiece.” Only 600 bottles will be available for sale. Don’t you wish to have a sip?…That’s if you can effort it!

Sagrada Familia: Temple of the Holy Family

Today, we will visit a massive Roman Catholic church of which the construction began 126 years ago and is still in progress to this day. A church unfinished for that long…just unbelievable! The church is named the Sagrada Familia (Expiatory Temple of the Holy Family) and it’s located in Barcelona, Spain. The construction of the church started in 1882 and originally designed by Antoni Gaudi a Spanish Catalan architect. The building works are expected to be completed around 2026 which will be the 100th anniversary of Gaudi’s death. The reason why it’s taking so long to complete this project is because the project is not supported by the government and official church sources. Funding of the project mainly come from private donations and the ticket sales from the tourists.

The Sagrada Familia’s towers are rich in Christianity symbolism. The decoration include works from the liturgy. There are a total of 18 tall towers; the Twelve Apostles, the four Evangelists, the Virgin Mary and of course the tallest of it all is Jesus Christ. These towers are decorated with biblical words such as “Hosanna”,”Excelsis”, and “Sanctus”; the grand doors are engraved with words from the bible in various languages; and there will be a Glory facade to be decorated with the Apostles’ Creed. There is plan to design the sanctuary areas with concepts of saints, virtues and sins, and secular such regions with matching decorations.

If I ever get a chance to visit Spain, this will be the first place that I want to see. The Eiffel tower in Paris is nothing special compare to this historical temple.
