Familjen Dafgard: What is Kama Sutra?
Written on May 26, 2008 by KiwiPulse · Posted in Advertising, Video · 17 Comments
What does Kama Sutra has to do with ready-to-eat microwave meals? Well…apparently Familjen Dafgard, the largest family business in the food sector in Sweden, is trying to get people’s attention about their 10 new meals with the below commercial involving a little boy coming across his dad’s Kama Sutra book just before dinner time. The young one then asked his dad: Dad, what the heck is this? Is this your book Dad? Why is the lady naked? Is she stuck? I can’t imagine a worse scenario than this. How would you handle it if you were in this situation?
Overall the commercial is effective in the sense that it makes the viewers remember the product. But I question the appropriateness of this commercial…

Montreal: The City Of Festivals
Written on May 24, 2008 by KiwiPulse · Posted in Various · 13 Comments
Summer is just around the corner, what are your plans for this summer vacation? Well I am planning to stay in my hometown Montreal and enjoy the the annual summer festivals. Let me share with you (and also if I may brag) about my wonderful city and give you some ideas of what to do if you are planning a trip here.

Montreal is the second-largest city in Canada and largest city in the province of Quebec with approximately 1.6 million in population. The official language is French but majority of the people are fluent in English. Last year, Forbes Magazine ranked Montreal as the 10th cleanest city in the world. Many said that Montreal is a city of festivals due the endless celebration for the large-scale cultural and sporting events that continues during the summer. As for the weather between June and August, the temperature on average is 25 C/77 F in the high and 14 C/58 F in the low. Let’s see what this year has to offer for everyone’s enjoyment. …continue reading the post Montreal: The City Of Festivals

Live Poker: Become The King Of Bluff
Written on May 20, 2008 by KiwiPulse · Posted in Advertising · 13 Comments
My friends and I we share something similar; we like to play poker in the weekend. We are not playing to ruin anybody, it’s just a source of entertainment for us when getting together. Occasionally, some of them will bluff by betting or raising with an inferior hand. This technique is often used in poker and is quite effective. Keep in mind to only bluff if you think that the other players have a small hand. If your bluffing skill is good, the other players will believe that you have a dominant hand and they will fold… and you are guarantee to win the pot. Isn’t that easy?
In my opinion you are taking a big risk by bluffing. Not every opponents will fold to the bluff and the possibility that someone will call is very likely. As a result you might lose all your bets. So not everyone can earn the ‘king of bluff’ title!
Below is the ad campaign by Live Poker Magazine saying you can bluff… to get an old lady arrested for robbery…to join the KKK group as a black man…to win a beauty pageant as a man. I think I prefer bluffing in a poker game and not anywhere else! Do you think it’s a good idea to bluff when playing poker?

Amnesty International: Your Signature Has The Power

Are you bored with all the Amnesty International ads campaign? I’m not and I am a proud supporter of Amnesty International who strive to help stop human rights abuses. Here is another one from Amnesty International France showing that your signature has the power.
Using petitions is very effective and powerful in pressuring changes from government officials. A petition usually involves a mass group of people coming together to champion a common cause. Signatures of millions of people on the petitions represent a powerful moral force and it’s one of the best way to get our voice heard by government officials.
Never underestimate the power of petition marketing, the results can be devastatingly effective!
