Air Pollution: The Sticky Poster Raises Awareness
To show how badly air pollution can damage your lungs, a marketing firm by the name of JWT in Hong Kong came up with this extremely creative and effective ’sticky poster’. This promotional poster has a sticky film and over time it collects the dust, dirt and other pollutants to the poster revealing the dirty lungs. This marketing campaign received a great deal of attention from the media in Hong Kong. And sure sticks out in my mind!
Let polluted air speak for itself…

I should be back really soon and post regularly.
That is some pretty scary stuff, but its not that we didn’t really know how much we are polluting the world we live in.
Any idea how they achieved this end result? It is remarkable indeed!
I wonder if someone was altering the poster physically or if they were using some sort of filter? Either way, very effective!

Very interesting, and very poignant. I’m guessing that the print was made with a chemical that reacts with carbon dioxide, or some other pollutant in the air. The reaction probably had the affect of changing the ink colour from transparent to black, so the longer the poster was up, the more time the pollution reacted with the ink.
So I guess it took 16 days to react fully. I wonder how long it would have taken 10 years, ago or in 10 years time. Will things improve?
Interesting…But it won’t talk much to the people who don’t see it everyday.
This would be especially effective for people who saw it to begin with and then saw it after a few days.

Quite. Perhaps a non treated one to start with, with an adjacent one with the reaction showing a daily progress with a rolling number for the day, would have been more effective.
Excellent post. That’s a lot of pollution in just 16 days. I can imagine what our lungs look like after just one year. Ugh.

The post is really thoughtful. I even can’t imagine how suffer our lungs everyday
This is true. I agree with this.
What an effective way of showing how polluted our air is nowadays. You don’t know how much our lungs are suffering from air pollution. We must find ways on how to keep our air clean before it’s too late.
