Arts: Walking to the Sky
Posted in Art, Sculpture
If you get a chance to visit Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, United States. Don’t miss the opportunity to admire this 100 Foot Tall stainless steel pole on the campus of Carnegie Mellon University. This sculpture was realised by Jonathan Borofsky. When he was kid, Jonathan used to hear different stories from his father. Especially this one about a friendly giant who lived in the sky. “In each tale, father and son would travel up to the sky to talk to the giant about what needed to be done for everyone back on earth. The artist says the sculpture is a celebration of the human potential for discovering who we are and where we need to go.”

The steel pole at Carnegie Mellon University was undoubtedly an inspiration for the Chinese for the Olympic Games Opening ceremony just a few days ago. I saw the men running staight into the sky or along a hanging wall. Very similar to this concept.
