Audi R8: The Slowest Car We’ve Ever Built
December 27, 2007 – 12:01 am | Written by KiwiPulse
I remember when this Audi R8 appeared at the auto shows and events all over the world. This mid-engined sports car was introduced by the German automaker Audi in 2007. The Audi R8 is equipped with a 4.2 L V8 developing 414 bhp. The base price in the US is $109,000 for the 6-speed manual. A R-Tronic equipped R8 will be priced at $118,000. The R8 is made further distinct by its exterior styling, cabin, engine and pricing. The Audi R8 have awarded as the Best Handling Car and Fastest Car in the World of 2007 by Autocar Magazine. Playboy Magazine also awarded it as the Car of The Year for 2008. I will start saving up money to buy this car, maybe around 2015 when I can get a chance to buy it as a used car. I have included three YouTube videos for your own entertainment. Check it out!
“It’s what happens when you replace robots with humans. A car as complex as the new Audi R8 can only be built with years of engineering experience. Because it’s built on such a small scale, almost every component has to be skillfully fitted by hand. So while the process might be slow, the car anything but. The new Audi R8. The slowest car we’ve ever built.”

“Humans can be painfully slow. That’s why we use them. Unlike most cars, the Audi R8 in not built on a production line. It’s built in small numbers in a high-tech car crafting facility. Tasks that are usually executed by robots are meticulously executed by hand. It’s a lengthy process, but what it loses in time, it gains in craftmanship. The new Audi R8. The slowest car we’ve ever built.”

“We couldn’t mass produce it if we tried. Supply could never meet the demand for the Audi R8. Virtually every component is assembled by hand in a specially designed workshop. It’s a slow, labour intensive process undertaken by only the most experienced engineers. But a car like this is worth taking time over. The new Audi R8. The slowest car we’ve ever built.”

I have never liked Audis’, they are a yuppies Volvo to me. Then again I want a Toyota Landcruiser 4 x 4, so I guess I am in a different market zone.
I love this car. It’s so beautiful but way out of my my league unfortunately….

This is one hot car!!!! Just a pity its out of my price range, would love to be seen in this!!!!!!
There’s something to be said for old fashioned hand craftmanship. It’s interesting to see how tech advanced industry revels in doing things the old fashioned way. Things really do go full circle.
