Blood Donation: So Little Means So Much

Did you know that you can donate your blood only three times every year? It takes approximately 8 to 16 weeks for a donor to be eligible to give blood again. The blood can save lives of small children in emergency rooms, newborn babies, and fetuses. Did you know that only 1% of adults are qualify as baby donors. Giving blood can also reduce the risk of heart disease for men and stimulate the generation of red blood cells. The differences between men and women in heart attack risk may be due to circulating iron levels which are reduced by menstruation. A donor effectively burns about 650 calories by donating one pint of blood. The majority of blood donors, however, donate as an act of charity and do not expect to receive any direct benefit from the donation.
I like the ads shown below, but the Donation Facts may be a little bit rude. I hope they will have success with this ad campaign. Don’t wait until a vampire sucks your blood, consider giving it to people who need it most, the children!

Pretty hard core ads I have to say, but they are SO true. I went to give blood last week
About the time between blood donations, it depends.. The way they take my blood means that I have a waiting time of 6 month before I’m allowed again. If I had donate the blood the normal way then it would be 3-4 month waiting time. But they want the blood the other way (more red blood cells).
Anyway, I did blog about it, so have a look at:

This is very interesting. I have never donated blood before but if donating blood can really reduce the risk of heart disease, then I will consider donating blood too.
it’s really important the donation issue as it really help others and after you do that you actually feels relieved like you’ve done what you can and the rest can be dealt with science ..
thanks for the heads up
