This steel sculpture has won the National Award of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) for architectural excellence in 2007. The sculpture is set in the landscape of the Pennines overlooking Burnley, in the north west of England. It was designed by architects Mike Tonkin and Anna Liu of Tonkin Liu. This musical sculpture is called the Singing Ringing Tree because of the harmonic and singing qualities that the tree produce by tuning the pipes. It was constructed from pipes of galvanised steel, which with the help of the wind it produce a slightly discordant and penetrating choral sound covering a range of several octaves. This is just amazing. What an excellent staggering piece of iconic environmental art, as one gentlemen has commented on the video below. It will capture the imagination of everyone who sees it. The videos below will give more info about this amazing piece of art. You will also be able to hear the sound of this fabulous Sing Ringing Tree! :D

You probably know this long and thin wood cylinder object that we use as writing or drawing instrument which we called the pencil. Surprisingly, pencils can be used to create colorful sculptures taking various forms. Today, I fall in love with an artist’s work of unique and exquisite unusual fine art made with pencils. Her name is Jennifer Maestre and she uses pencils as the medium to create her sculptures. Jennifer has always been involved in some kind of creative projects in her life. In her early 30’s, she went to Mass College of Art where she majored in Glass Art. As her career progresses, Jennifer invented the art of pencil sculptures. They don’t teach such type of art in school!

Look, there’s a giant spider! Run! Just kidding! This gigantic sculpture of the spider named “Maman” is 30 feet in height and width, with a sac containing 26 marble eggs. It’s one of Louise Bourgeois, the creator, famous sculptures. There’s one stainless steel version which is currently being lend to the Tate Modern in London. There are another six bronze casts located at National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa, State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Mori Art Museum in Tokyo, Samsung Museum of Modern Art in Seoul and Havana in Cuba. What a fine piece of contemporary sculpture that I would like to put in front of my house, if only I can afford it.

The church leaders believe that their ‘King of Kings Statue’ is the World’s Largest Christ (or at least the World’s Largest half-buried Messiah) and have submitted it for consideration in the Guinness World Records. This sculpture is located in Ohio, United States at the Solid Rock Church. To complete this 62 feet tall and 1600 lbs statue over 8000 hours of effort were put in development and installation. As I know the biggest statue of Jesus Christ is in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where the Christ of Redeemer stands to 130 feet tall and weighs 1 400 000 lbs.

The local residents have given many nicknames to this statue such as “Giant Jesus”, “Touchdown Jesus” and “Drowning Jesus”. If you are planning a visit to this Solid Rock Church someday, don’t forget your football ball!
