Montreal Downtown

Montreal is the second-largest city in Canada and largest city in the province of Quebec with approximately 1.6 million in population. The official language is French but majority of the people are fluent in English. Last year, Forbes Magazine ranked Montreal as the 10th cleanest city in the world. Many said that Montreal is a city of festivals due the endless celebration for the large-scale cultural and sporting events that continues during the summer. As for the weather between June and August, the temperature on average is 25 C/77 F in the high and 14 C/58 F in the low. Let’s see what this year has to offer for everyone’s enjoyment. Arizona: Antelope Canyon

March 1, 2008 – 1:51 am | Written by KiwiPulse

Did you know that the most-visited and most-photographed slot canyon is located in Arizona, USA? A slot canyon is a narrow canyon, formed by the wear of water rushing through the rocks. The Antelope Canyon which is located on the Navajo reservation is perhaps the only slot canyon in this planet where the light and sandstone come together. It has been accessible by permit only since 1997 when the Navajo Tribal Park was opened and it became an economic source of business for the Navajo Nation.

The Antelope Canyon was formed primarily due to flash flooding. The canyon is separated into two sections: the Upper Antelope (The Crack) and Lower Antelope (The Corkscrew). The canyon can only be visited exclusively through guided tours because during the monsoon season the rain can quickly flood the canyon, making it very unsafe. In the first year that it was opened to the public, eleven tourists in Lower Antelope Canyon were killed by a flash flood. Get informed about the weather before planning a visit to this fabulous place. Some say it’s a place were you can see the presence of the Divine. What a magnificent crown jewel of the Southwest! It’s just breathtaking looking at the beautiful pictures!

United Arab Emirates: Urbanization Of Dubai

January 7, 2008 – 1:05 am | Written by KiwiPulse

These pictures were taken by the NASA between 1973 and 2006. They show a dramatic change along the coast of the United Arab Emirates follow the development of Dubai, one of the country’s seven emirates. Dubai’s economy was built on the back of the oil industry, revenues from oil and natural gas currently account for approximately 6% of the emirate’s revenues. Dubai is considered to be an important tourist destination especially for its port, constructed in the 1970s it has the largest man-made harbor in the world. Dubai has over 250,000 foreign laborers, many of whom live in conditions described by Human Rights Watch as being “less than human”. They are not allowed to move jobs and if they leave the country to go back home they will almost certainly lose all the money that they have earned.

Dubai has been called the “shopping capital of the Middle East”. Dubai’s lure for tourists is based mainly on shopping and also on its possession of ancient and modern attractions. Dubai is known for its souk districts. Souk is the Arabic word for market or place where any kind of goods are brought or exchanged.

The city of Dubai is home to more than 1.2 million people and it is still growing rapidly. The city’s emergence as a major metropolis and tourist destination is evident in these images. I want to go to Dubai at least once in my life! What about you?

San Alfonso del Mar: World’s Largest Pool

November 24, 2007 – 7:21 pm | Written by KiwiPulse

What is your travel plan for this Christmas holiday? Would like to spend your time in a popular beach resort? If you are lucky and have a budget for travel plans for this holiday, then I suggest going to the world’s largest pool in San Alfonso del Mar. As for us, the unlucky ones, we will have to deal with the cold weather. One of the best activities to do on the beach is surely walking along the beach. What about walking bare feet on the beach and feeling the warm sand between your toes. The best walking areas still remains near the shoreline, where the sand is wet and more comfortable to walk in.

When comes the time to swim, do you dare to swim with the sharks? I’m joking of course, but due to the intense pollution in most beaches swimming is not always allowed. The kinds of pollution in these areas can possibly lead to cancers, birth defects, mental retardation and life expectancies approaching medieval levels. That’s way turning to artificial beaches become more safe and pleasant.

Today we are going to South America. We are not going to watch a horse rodeo, which is the national sport. We’re going to visit the world’s largest pool in the San Alfonso del Mar resort. It’s an artificial beach lagoon which has a 1000 meters long outdoor pool. The resort includes white sand beaches and palm trees around every building. The water is pumped from the ocean, which is then filtered and treated before supplying to the pool. Are you ready to do a splash at the world’s largest pool?
