Falkirk Wheel: Genius Invention

August 23, 2007 – 9:05 pm | Written by KiwiPulse

My attention was lately attracted by this rotated boat lift. The Falkirk Wheel, named after the nearby town of Falkirk in central Scotland, is a rotating boat liftForth. The Wheel is the world’s largest boat lift. It transfers canal boats from one canal to another 100 feet higher. This spectacular centrepiece of the £84.5 million, Millennium Link, is the UK’s largest canal restoration project, developed by British Waterways to reconnect the Union Canal with the Forth & Clyde Canal, re-establishing east to west coast access for boats. The structure is located near the Rough Castle Fort and the closest village is Tamfourhill.

Apart from being an engineering and design wonder, The Falkirk Wheel is a great day out. From the stunning Visitor Centre and basin, set at the heart of a natural amphitheatre of landscaped grounds, you can view the revolution of The Wheel or go for a stroll to see it from all angles.

I have included a video from YouTube. Check it out! :D

Travel: Crazy Statue in Hamilton Island

August 21, 2007 – 3:35 am | Written by KiwiPulse

A first look at the statue, I can say that it was created by a great sculptor. Don’t go too fast! If you look at the back of that statue, you can find a crazy alien. What is the alien doing there?!? We can read on the statue “You shall know the TRUTH and the TRUTH shall make you FREE”. The Statue is located in Hamilton Island, Australia. The Island is used almost exclusively for tourism. It’s also the largest inhabited island of the Whitsunday Islands. Many festivals are hosted on the island. It seem to be a great destination to spend some qualities time with your friends or lover(s).

You’re Not A Real Man If You Haven’t Climbed The Great Wall

August 15, 2007 – 5:22 am | Written by KiwiPulse

My curiosity was piqued to discover the Great China Wall. I was looking for the biggest structure made by human. I could just fall on the largest and longest human-made structure ever built in terms of surface area and mass. Measuring only 6,400 km, you can walk all day! The China Wall was constructed to defend the border from enemies. Mao Zedong, Chairman of the Communist Party of China, had a saying, “You’re not a real man if you haven’t climbed the Great Wall”. What about studying it a little more, before climbing it.
