Lamborghini Gallardo: Inspired By Sharpie

Written on February 1, 2009 by KiwiPulse · Posted in Various · 16 Comments

I’m sure most of us have seen all kinds of exotic cars at car shows or on the internet… from a just-ok-looking wooden Supercar to a OMG-I-want-it-now golden Porsche. But have you ever  seen a car covered in Sharpie drawings, especially on a Lamborghini Gallardo? Well I’m pretty sure all of us have used a Sharpie permanent marker at one point in our life for something…of course not for sketching on a luxury car! Sharpie markers are known for their ability to write a clear, well-defined, non-smudging, durable line on glossy surfaces. That’s probably why Jona Cerwinske, the creative street artist, chose the marker to create his art work on the white painted Lamborghini Gallardo then finished it off with a clear coat to seal the deal. Like it or not, I would still be more than happy to have this jewel in my garage!

As nicely summarized by VOD Cars on Flickr: “Every time someone sees a picture of this car they don’t know what to say and end up asking to see more pictures. So here they are for everyone to enjoy! The car was actually done in Sharpie markers on the paint and then finished with a clear coat for protection. It took about 2 weeks total. Prestige (Lamborghini Miami) definitely shocked a lot of people when this car was first seen in California during the Concorso Italiano/Pebble Beach week. It attracted good attention and unfortunately bad everywhere it went.”

Restoring Precious Video Memories

Written on January 31, 2009 by KiwiPulse · Posted in Various · 9 Comments

With advanced technology these days, do you realize how easy it has become for us to use our high-tech camera to capture and share important or just every day events  with our love ones and friends.  However our grandparents and  parents didn’t have that privilege. I don’t know what a 16mm film or 35mm slide is…I guess it is the ancestor of the VHS tape.

A few years back, I remember seeing in my parents’ closet some old VHS tapes of their wedding back in the days. To them they are priceless. Now I think it’s about time to preserve my family’s irreplaceable memories and transfer it to DVD. I asked around my local photo studios if they offer video restoration service. None of them have the required equipment to transfer my parent’s old VHS tapes to DVD.

I did some research online and I’ve found VideoConversionExperts.com. They are the leading 8mm, Super 8, 16mm film and 35mm slide transfer lab in the world. Video Conversion Experts have been transferring film and video for over 25 years and they also  have been designing and developing their own equipment for the past 10 years. They offer various services: (a) transfer Super 8 film, 16mm movie film to DVD and 8mm film to Video, AVI files, Blu-Ray DVD, HDV, HD-AVI and uncompressed HD, (b) transfer slides to DVD, JPG and TIFF files, and (c) transfer video tapes to DVD and AVI files. Their services are available throughout the United States and around the world. Not only they will be able to convert film to DVD, but they will restore it to it’s original clarity or better. With their rich experience in the business, I am confident these guys will be able to help me with my VHS tapes.

We are very lucky that today our world is captured digitally with a click of a button enabling us to secure our memories for generations to come…

George W. Bush: Favorite Moments From His Presidency

Written on November 10, 2008 by KiwiPulse · Posted in Various · 22 Comments

November 4th 2008 got to be a historic day for all American because it mark the day when Barack Obama defeated John McCain and became the first African American to be elected President of the United States. In his victory speech, delivered in front of a crowd of hundreds of thousands of supporters in Chicago, Obama proclaimed that “change has come to America”. He will be sworn in as the 44th President of the United States on January 20, 2009.

At the same time… It will also be the end of the Bush administration which is considered by many historians as “Failure”.  George W. Bush might be the worst president in history but I will miss his facial expressions. Let’s take a look back at his favorite moments from his presidency. :D

Food For A Week Around The World

Written on November 9, 2008 by KiwiPulse · Posted in Various · 21 Comments

I feel very lucky to be in a country where food are abundance and we are not suffering from hunger. I can’t imagine my whole day trying to find food to survive. For some people in the world it’s a daily challenge. The sensation of hunger typically begins after a couple of hours without eating and is generally quite uncomfortable. Can you believe that the average person suffering from hunger can survive weeks without food intake. For example the magician David Blaine survived 44 days without food, losing one quarter of his body weight, but keeping a healthy body mass index.

In 1976 obese people were put on an experimental starvation diet, with absolutely no food, for 40 days and none of them had any trouble surviving. The result was that people can last much longer without eating than without drinking. It also depends on the initial body condition: a weak elderly person or thin young person might not be able to go very long without food. Without water anyone will run into problems pretty quickly. Their blood volume will shrink and their water and electrolyte balance will be upset. Eventually the body will just go into shock.

My family situation look very much like the family in the third picture below with a lot of junk foods. Even the poor African family are eating more healthier than us. :|
