In life everyone need a break or a temporary escape from reality sometimes. Whether it’s to help reduce stress, fill the emptiness or to relief the pain and sorrow in one’s life, people often tend to do things that they will not normally do. Some people may turn to positive activities like playing games, gardening, blogging, or shopping while other may turn to negative activities such as drinking, gambling, or taking drugs which potentially can ruin or kill one’s life. A big applause goes to those who choose the positive options. But unfortunately, for those who choose the negative path it can lead them to addiction because it has become their new way of life overtime. The addiction sometimes can dominate the mind and cause the addicts to steal, lie or even become abusive to their family members and friends.
Getting addicted maybe very easy but realizing that it’s a problem is not so easy. Addictions don’t happen overnight so it will take some time to recover. But the very first step to recovery is for the addicts to admit that they have a problem and want to seek professional help. Experts say that an addict take great steps to hide their habit. Even if you know someone who has an addiction problem, you can’t control their habit or stop them unless they really want your help. An addict has to recognize that they have a problem before you can take steps to help them overcome it. Until then, all you can do is make them aware that you’re prepared to offer your support when they’re ready.
And when they are ready, the best way to help besides emotion support is to send them to a Drug – Alcohol Rehabilitation Center or a Gambling Help Center where they specialize in Drug Rehab , Alcohol Rehab, Drug Detox and Gambling Counseling. The center will have a variety of programs such as Drug Rehab Programs, Counseling, Medical Treatment, Psychotherapeutic Treatment and alternative medicine to help the addicts change their lifestyle and eventually recover.

You’re right - addiction is a huge problem and the biggest obstacle to an addict coming clean is their DENIAL to the nature or extent of their problem.
You need to admit to, and take responsibility for the state of your life, before you can be successfully helped - and many addicts don’t do that. And until they do - there isn’t a lot you can do.
If a friend or loved one does suffer from an addiction, your best bet then is to perform an Intervention if they’re not yet ready to admit they need help themselves. Don’t have the space to go into that here - but Interventions can be very powerful, if done properly, to get someone you love into treatment.
Addiction to anything causes problems not only to the addict, the addict’s family and friends also get affected and its impact is frightening. Self help group programs like the AA, NA etc are doing commendable jobs and their success rate apparently is greater than rehab centers.

It is a shame that so many fall victim to drugs, and even worse when the problem goes untreated. That first photo speaks volumes.
