Elter Drugs: An Unwashed Vegetable Can Become A Deadly Weapon

Posted in Advertising

For years, health experts have recommended everyone to “wash your hands, wash your hands, wash your hands.” and now with raw fruits and vegetables as the major cause of Salmonella outbreaks they are recommending that everyone to “wash your produce, wash your produce, wash your produce.” The contamination can come from a number of sources and at a variety of stages in the process from field to the market. Irrigation water in the fields may be contaminated with animal manure or human sewage or a field worker, food packer, or store employee handling the produce could be ill.

The adverting campaign below by Elter Drugs is very well executed with creative and vivid visual art to depict an important message. Well done Elter Drugs!

AN UNWASHED VEGETABLE CAN BECOME A DEADLY WEAPON. ALWAYS WASH YOUR VEGETABLE IN ORDER TO WIN THE BATTLE AGAINST FOODBORNE ILLNESS SUCH AS AMOEBIASIS, DISENTERY AND CHOLERA. THIS IS A HEALTHY MESSAGE FROM THE GASTRIC AND ANTIBACTERIAL THERAPY DIVISIONS OF ELTER DRUGS.

I agree that it is very well executed and sends a powerful message. Quite what Elter will get out of it is a moot point unless they follow this campaign with another tie up one.

The mushroom one really works for me. I think it gets the point across pretty succinctly. Best bang for the buck ;) I’m a little anal, when it comes to washing my fruit and veggies, but it’s a simple enough thing that everyone should do.

Wow, that picture really got my attention. I am usually overly careful when it comes to fruit. I never know where are they from. What if they are grown near the factory that sprays some chemicals at them all the time? I never know…

I guess it’s not risk free, the only way to be sure is to not buy it. Company these day only think about profit and not about our own health.. :(

We will never know until we can see how they produce it. Us the consumer only see the final product that look nice outside and hide surprise inside. :x

This is horrible. I love fruits and now i don’t know if i can face eating them anymore. I guess this is one more Mother knows best example. So wash all that you can…

These ads are very attention-getting…and scary because it is a real threat to your health. I particularly like the mushroom one!

Talk about getting the publics attention, these ads have done just that.

These ads are pretty scary. The biggest thing is that if you buy your produce locally or have your own garden, you don’t have to worry about salmonella. You know what was used to make the produce.
