Google: Lego Brick 50th Anniversary Celebration

Have you seen the new logo from Google’s Homepage? Google have updated their logo in celebrating the 50th anniversary of the popular plastic brick, the Lego Brick. The popular toy started his journey in 1932 in the workshop of his creator, Ole Kirk Christiansen. Kirk began creating wooden toys then his company had expanded to producing plastic toys in 1947, but not yet with the brick design. It was only until 1958 that the modern-day brick design was developed and it took another five years to find exactly the right material for it. The Lego brick was patented on January 28, 1958 and the bricks from that year are still compatible with the bricks today!

LEGO Bricks have released over 100 new items for this celebration. I have selected my favorite items below. You can see more at Lego.com.

    Nice to be reminded of lego. I had them when I was a kid and passed the fondness for the toy to my sons. They all grew up on lego and still keep these toys for their children. Thanks for the post, I will tell them about the toy’s birthday.

    many kids really like lego toys , for some of these kids it’s better than going out to the circus

    i love kids and i love watching them having fun that way

    i respect google for bringing up that reminder

    Its amazing how advanced they have come since I was a kid. Cant wait to have kids so that I can help play again. Its great Google reminds us.
