How To: Brighten An Image In PhotoShop

Have you ever took a picture and it looked way too dark than what you expected? Not to panic! This easy-to-follow Photoshop tutorial will help make your picture more brighter.
Step 1: Choose the picture you want to make brighter and open it on Photoshop.

Step 2: Now go to the Layers tab, then right click on the picture layer and choose Duplicate Layer…

Step 3: On the duplicated layer of the picture, set the layer mode to “Screen”.

Step 4: There are so many ways to make your picture brighter, but this is one of the easiest way. Look at the result …much brighter!

    That was both simple and really effective.

    I have seen several photoshop tutorials for various effects,but this one is the shortest and the easiest :)

    I just went through your step by step tutorial, and it was awesome! I had this pic of my daughter that I was in LOVE with, but it was just too dark, and now it looks fabulous! I am gonna scrapbook it later today, I am printing it out right now. :wub:

    That’s really cool. I wish I had photoshop. There are so many cool things you can do to pictures on there. It’s probably a good thing I don’t have it though, I would spend all my time on it and never do anything else.

    Oh cool! That’s very helpful. I have a lot of photos that are quite good but my position when I took them was incorrect and was not strategic and they ended up dark… Now I have some ideas how to make them at least “recognizable”. ^^

    Very nice tutorial. I just emailed this to a friend so they would stop asking me. I work in the photo industry and everyone always calls to ask me questions. You should do more of these, they are very good.
