Guitar Hero: On Tour is the new game by Vicarious Visions which is to be released on the much more portable gaming platform the DS. This version of the popular Guitar Hero series will use a “Guitar grip” which plugs into the Game Boy Advance slot and has four buttons instead of the usual five located on the end of the device. It also comes with a stylus which is made to look like a guitar pick and strap to make sure you don’t drop your DS during those very intense jamming sessions. It took the development team over 20 prototypes to come up with the design but it sure payed off.

You play the game like you would with any other Guitar Hero game pushing the buttons and strumming in time but instead of using a “strum bar” you use the touch screen to do all strumming with the stylus. Game play consist of career mode and quick play which you can play on your own but the real fun will come from the multiplayer games featuring a co-operative mode and a battle mode where you can use new items to give a little flavor to the usual vs mode. It is also said to feature more master tracks then ever offered on a Guitar Hero and have the ability to customize your experience with 6 characters to chose from (2 of them exclusive to the DS), 5 different venues and heaps of different guitars.

I came a cross this magnificent metal sculpture of a bald eagle while surfing the net. This got to be the world’s largest eagle sculpture I have ever seen. Why would someone create such an exquisite piece of art?

I think I know why…It is said that eagles are the living symbols of power, freedom and transcendence. In some religions, high-soaring eagles are believed to touch the face of God. They can teach us about patience as they will perch in a tree for hours waiting for their next meal. They are also known for their sharp vision, seeing twice as far as people. Studies suggest that some eagles can spot an animal the size of a rabbit up to two miles away. While humans typically have 200,000 light-sensitive cells per square millimeter of retina, eagles may have up to 1 million - five times more! No wonder the founders of the United States chose the bird that only resides in North America as their national symbol to symbolize the country’s freedom, strength and power.

This massive work of art is named “Power and Authority”. This piece was completed in 2006 by Kevin Stone. It brought Kevin international attention as a metal sculptor. It is 20 feet high (as high as a two-storey building!) with 32 feet wing span, and weighs an estimated 6000 lbs. It is made with the highest quality surgical stainless steel and hand-polished to a mirror finish. This piece took on a life of it’s own, with over 2000 people attending the unveiling. This piece has been sold.

You can visite the website of the sculptor at metalanimation.com which is dedicated to the magnificent works of Canadian metal sculptor, Kevin Stone . There are no reproductions of his work. Every piece is uniquely handcrafted . “My sculptures are designed to attract attention, create emotion, invite contemplation and conversation, state boldly, add beauty and style to their environment, and become a fabulous focal point. I enjoy the challenge of each clients needs, and bringing my clients visions to life. I build each piece to be enjoyed for many generations to come, and as part of my commitment and goal to enhance each community where my work is displayed, I donate 10% of the sale price of each piece to the Children’s Hospital in that community.” - Kevin

What does Kama Sutra has to do with ready-to-eat microwave meals? Well…apparently Familjen Dafgard, the largest family business in the food sector in Sweden, is trying to get people’s attention about their 10 new meals with the below commercial involving a little boy coming across his dad’s Kama Sutra book just before dinner time. The young one then asked his dad: Dad, what the heck is this? Is this your book Dad? Why is the lady naked? Is she stuck? I can’t imagine a worse scenario than this. How would you handle it if you were in this situation?

Overall the commercial is effective in the sense that it makes the viewers remember the product. But I question the appropriateness of this commercial…

Summer is just around the corner, what are your plans for this summer vacation? Well I am planning to stay in my hometown Montreal and enjoy the the annual summer festivals. Let me share with you (and also if I may brag) about my wonderful city and give you some ideas of what to do if you are planning a trip here.

Montreal Downtown

Montreal is the second-largest city in Canada and largest city in the province of Quebec with approximately 1.6 million in population. The official language is French but majority of the people are fluent in English. Last year, Forbes Magazine ranked Montreal as the 10th cleanest city in the world. Many said that Montreal is a city of festivals due the endless celebration for the large-scale cultural and sporting events that continues during the summer. As for the weather between June and August, the temperature on average is 25 C/77 F in the high and 14 C/58 F in the low. Let’s see what this year has to offer for everyone’s enjoyment. …continue reading the post Montreal: The City Of Festivals
