Prime Personal Banking: Time And Life

Written on July 30, 2008 by KiwiPulse - Posted in Advertising

With a first glance at these ads, I’ll bet that you would think this ad campaign is for watches. It would make sense if it was from a watch company, but actually it was launched by a bank to promote personal banking. Although the art direction is impressive and creative just like the IG and Renault Megane Cabriolet ad campaigns, but the message once again is very cloudy. What are they trying to tell us?

Time and Life. If you don’t have the first, you don’t have the second.

Time for skiing…

They are all very well designed… perhaps they are conceptual watches too?

I like the time for enjoying a nice meal… it is perfect for me.

You are absolutely right. There is no message about the product coming through! If I read this ad, I would not know what product was being sold, as even the watches do not carry any brand!

Have to agree with Dining Room Table but the designs are really great

I love the ads. Very creative from a design concept, but the marketing could cause the company to fail a bit in print. No one would know what they were advertising right away and will only remember the watches.

The concept is awesome, and the designs are brilliant. Whether the message comes across is vey much debatable though!

Beautifully done! The message gets lost though…

The first one looked a little random to me and then made sense when i saw the rest. Very clever!

But when we don’t have money, I don’t think we can enjoy those activities too…

This reaks of an ad campaign design for advertising geeks and not consumers. Totally ineffective, IMO, but some of those are nice watches!

Isn’t a lot of marketing like that? For decades I’ve scratched my head watching TV trying to figure out why a picture of a whatever should make me want to buy a something else…

Ad Guru Ogilvy said that only 50% of advertising is good. The problem is identifying which 50% is effective! The litmus test is always,”does the ad sell the product?”. In this case, the creative side of the agency has indeed won. But sadly, I doubt that the ad will sell the product, which is personal banking.
