First you need to know that this post is the introduction to the many SEO tutorials that I will publish. I decided to write about this topic because I recently received many emails from my fellow bloggers requesting to help them with their SEO. I was quite surprised that some of them don’t know what SEO stands for. In mastering any subjects, one can’t escape from taking the introductory course, in this case it’s SEO 101. In this first tutorial, I will cover the basics of SEO.
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It helps to increase the rank of your blog and gain popularity from the search engines such as Google and Yahoo. You probably use Google for researching or finding answers to many of your questions. There are billions of pages/articles/websites indexed on Google. If you don’t optimize your blog to be viewed on the search engines, your articles will probably be the last ranked of the millions/billions of articles in the results list.

Let me explain to you how the search engines work. Google for example will crawl your blog to find contents and keywords. Then it will assign each article with many keywords relevant to the content. In other words Google do this to archive your content and find relevant keywords to help the researchers find what they are looking for.
When Google finished crawling through your blog. The content from your blog will get indexed in a large database where researchers can retrieve your content by searching with keywords using the Google search engine. That’s why its important for you to work on your SEO by adding relevant keywords in your articles in order to achieve the highest position rank possible. The next step in SEO is to establish backlinks. With backlinks it will drastically help you to achieve a higher Google page rank. I will elaborate on my next article about establishing backlinks! Until my next SEO article, I suggest that you install the All in One SEO plugin in your blog and start adding more keywords in your articles. ![]()
