Super Bowl XLIII Commercials 2009: Part II
Posted in Advertising, Video
With all the cutbacks resulting from the severe economic downturn in the United States due to the global recession, the game was dubbed “The Recession Bowl”. The ticket prices to the game were decreased, restaurants were slow in business, and many parties including parties hosted by Playboy and Sports Illustrated were cancelled. There were also 200 fewer sports journalists covering the game than at Super Bowl XLII the previous year. Even the Big Three automobile makers; Ford, Chrysler and General Motors, decided not to purchase television advertisements following the three companies’ business struggles in 2008 and early 2009.
But that doesn’t stop other companies from taking the opportunity to promote their products. Check out their commercials below.

LOOOOL! i love these Super Bowl Commercials, especially the 3rd one.
Good collection.
Well…that was painful. Most of the 15 commercials were average at best - easy humor that doesn’t require a lot of imagination. There were a few that I liked, however.
I’ve always enjoyed the Budweiser commercials that include the Clydesdales. The “Budweiser - There ain’t no mountain high enough for the Clydesdale” was well done. Everyone loves a love story, even when it contains non-humans.
I also liked the “Gatorade - The G that motivate and rehydrate ” commercial. I’ve always found it motivational, no matter how many times I see it. Today I watched my son at a track meet. He’s a distance runner, so at practice, they run anywhere from 8 to 10 miles a day. I’ve watched him become a physically fit specimen as a result of all the workouts. Yesterday, I heard Tyler Perry say on Larry King - “you reap what you sow.” I believe that if you want something - and you work hard enough to get it - you’ll be successful.
The “Teleflora.com - Hand arranged and delivered…not in a box!” commercial was good too. I found it to be creative and funny.
Haha, those are the best ones ever!

My total favorite was the one second commercial spot from natty light! They had youtubes of their outtakes and everything. Can you imagine trying to fit all your advertising in one second? That would be such a challenge!

Haha that’s pretty funny. I’m glad so many people post the commercials because I’m so not into football and I wasn’t about to watch the entire superbowl just to see the commercials.
