Tips: Blogging Is Like Wine
January 16, 2008 – 1:00 am | Written by KiwiPulse
We all know that wine is made from fermentation of grape juice. The difference from a regular to a rare and super-premium wine is the period of maturity. The record of quality and consensus is what makes the wine unique. A blog can be compared to wine because it takes time to reach maturity, resulting in success. In other words, it requires a lot of time and dedication before it will become a popular blog. Time, effort, research, patience, sense of humor is the key to writing great articles. We also need some marketing skills in order to create a popular blog that stands out from the crowd and stimulate some buzz around the blogsphere.
One of the worst problems that bloggers can have is lack of patience. I have seen bloggers come and go, and eventually we never heard about them anymore. Blogging is about patience because you need to be able to sit in front of your computer for more than 30 minutes in order to get all your ideas together to write a quality article. You also need to research about the topic and find useful and interesting information to share with your readers.
Like many wines, you need to find the flavors to get the primary impression on the drinker’s palate and what makes the wine 100% original. As wine makers develop their business strategic with ‘Niche’ so does bloggers. As blogger, you need to find a niche that you are truly passionate about in order to write about it hours and hours without loosing interest. For example, if your niche is about celebrity you can spend hours writing about their new scandal, movie, love relationship, paparazzi photos and videos and not feeling bored or running out of ideas.
You have probably heard about Bordeaux, cult wines and Port. They are the most expensive wine and it can be sold for thousands of dollars per bottle. There are many different choices over thousands of wine products, why does people keep buying those wine? Simply because the tasters will be able to enjoy the wine at its best; well developed in maturity. People need to taste your writing, give them time to discover the flavors and reach you!

I’ll drink to that!–Durano, done!
You have beaten me by hours on a very similar topic. I have an article scheduled dealing with turning my site from a lemon to a reasonable site in terms of traffic all from going niche, developing a nice look, and marketing the site via some social networks.
You though have gone into much more detail around content development and drawn a rather nice parallel to an real world industry that most can relate to. Well done on your fantastic content again.

I thought that was men: you have to give them some time to mature
Great analogy. It does indeed take time for a good blog to mature, just like wine! Thanks!
