Traditional Chinese Medicine: Sick abroad?

February 11, 2008 – 2:51 am | Written by KiwiPulse

This campaign ads brought by KarstadtQuelle Insurance shows a funny observation of the Chinese store signs. Did you know that the traditional Chinese medicine is considered as complementary or alternative medical system in most countries? Theses medicine practices have been developed over several thousands of years. In fact there are hundreds of treatment methods that can be used for each diagnosis such as herbal medicine, acupuncture and massage. What do you think about the store sign with the rhino “You sick? We repair!“? If I catch a cold, please remind me to see a Chinese doctor for a REPAIR!

Translation into English from any other language has to be extremely carefully done, as it is obvious here. The fact however remains that indigenous medicines can really be very effective if prescribed by qualified by local doctors. These photographs are truly reflective of globalization that is taking place at an amazing pace.

I’ve spent loads of time in China- these signs aren’t the exception, they are the rule! You can see stuff like this everywhere and it’s hilarious. Traditional medicine is good stuff, though.

I hate the way that western science totally dismisses herbal medicines. I feel that they are so much nicer, and have been used for far longer than the medicines that we use in the west today. Herbs and things are more natural. They should be used more in the west.

BTW the 3rd picture is my fav. :P

Very funny, i wonder if they are aware of that translation. Chinese Medicine is very effective though, and been used by most Asian Countries.

Great signs! Yes, you see these all over China and they’re quite funny  When I was in China, one of my favorite signs was a restroom sign on the Great Wall of China with an arrow pointing straight off the side of the Wall, instead of down a small staircase!

Acupuncture and Chinese herbs are often used as primary medicine in China - if only more and more people realize the benefits and the extent of what these modalities can do!
